Adam and Eve had two sons: Cain and Abel
(Genesis 4)

Among ancient jews, there were many alternative versions of this now famous biblical tale. In one of them, not Adam, but Satan was the father of Cain!

In order to achieve this, Satan disguised himself as a man named Samael, and lured Eve into having sex with him.

According to this ancient story, which is now in the Talmud, Adam and Eve lived separated for 130 years after they were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Only after this time, they met again and had their second son, Seth.

In this tradition, not Cain, but Seth is to be considered the real father of mankind.
